Find the Right Battery Backup for Your Refrigerator.

Size a portable power station for a U.S. household refrigerator or freezer during an outage. The calculator uses your energy figure, a duration you choose, and four published battery claims. It does not test your appliance, and it does not promise the food will stay cold.

Planning sketch of a closed refrigerator beside a portable battery An original line drawing. It is not a photograph or a drawing of a specific power station. Closed door. Planning sketch only.
Original drawing for orientation. It is not a product photo, a wiring diagram, or evidence that a battery can start a refrigerator.

Use it in three steps

1. Get an energy number you actually have

Read the estimated yearly kWh on the EnergyGuide label, or use a plug-in meter’s average watts. If you know compressor running watts and a duty cycle, that is a third option. None of those is the startup surge.

2. Pick a planning duration

Eight, twelve, twenty-four, thirty-six, and forty-eight hours are built in. A custom duration up to one week is allowed. A longer plan needs more watt-hours. It still does not measure temperature.

3. Read the shortfall, not a winner

The four batteries are sorted by whether the published watt-hours cover your plan, smallest sufficient capacity first. If you enter startup watts, a published surge that is too low is called out. Energy fit is not proof the compressor will start.

Published claims compared here

Only these four models are in the catalog. Figures are owner-provided manufacturer claims recorded November 7, 2026. Where the official page text matched, the card says so. Where the same page disagreed with itself, the card says that too. Prices, stock, ratings, and reviews are not shown because this site does not publish them.

Guides

What this site will not tell you

There is no wiring, transfer-switch, or backfeed procedure here. Follow the refrigerator manual and the power-station manual. Keep the unit dry, give it the ventilation the manual requires, and do not confuse a battery power station with a fuel generator. Fuel generators do not belong indoors.

Food safety is a temperature question. A runtime estimate is not a thermometer. Start with the outage food-safety page.
